Salmon Favorelles

Imported into Great Britain in 1886 from the village of Faverolles in Northern France, faverolles are alert, active birds. Placid and inquisitive, they are an ideal starter bird, and become tame very quickly. They have no objections to being handled or picked up, and happen to be a favourite of ours here at Raw Green Cottages

They're wonderfully odd-looking, with muffs, a beard, feathered feet and five toes. Hens are prolific layers of a medium-size light brown egg and roosters huge and magnificent, parading around with a virtual rainbow of colors.
